Iceland wedding: Head banging, Antarctica and Jacuzzi bath

Icelandic weather is unpredictable, and today was no exception. It was a beautifully clear day, which is why we were surprised that snow mobiling had to be cancelled due to winds, so we had to do superjeep instead. However, as soon as we travelled all of 10 minutes up to the mountain, we realised why. Jemma dressed head to toe in thermal clothing, so much so, you could only see her eyes. As we travelled to the glacier, we couldn't even see the road, the gps was guiding the driver through the deep snow. At one point we were stuck, so the driver got out to let the tyres down. I've never seen a man's face freeze but he had sheets of ice on his face when he got back in the car! We bumped over the land so much that mum, dad and bea in the back all hit the roof! We got to the snowmobile station and had to change formation in the car, so al out. I was concerned my contact lens were freezing. We couldn't see a thing, just stand on the spot as ice and snow was blasted at us. However is Shackleton survive in Antarctica! We were 10 minutes up a mountain, while the coast was calm and snow free!

We descended back to dry land, and visited an old wreck of a US navy plane that had to crash land on the black sand beach. While on the beach we drove up and down the dunes, an amazing roller coaster drive. We got out the cars and the wind blasted us again. Keith collected pebbles, however, a big wave caught him by surprise, he was like a gazelle running out of the sea! The next land directly South was Antarctica.

Back to Ranga to enjoy some free time in our Antarctica suite which is absolutely gorgeous, Windows on 3 sides, a seating area, jacquzzi bath in the room that we filled with rose petals and candles. We had dinner together, and leftover wedding cake for dessert. Everyone was shattered and went to bed. It has been an amazing week in Iceland, very sad to leave again.
