Labels without mountains

You should have seen Ali's face when she tried soda bread, it was her first and last experience of soda bread me thinks. Waterproofs on, we walked around Adare which was gorgeous apart from te busy road going straight through the village (the wedding capital of Ireland). We drove along the Shannon estuary to the Dingle penninsula (irish speaking). We watched the sea gulls flying in a gale while Ali work jeans tucked in socks, trendy :) We drove to Slea head where Ali's hat flew out of the window and towards the cliff. Luckily it was rescued before it's lemming attempt. We drove through Kilarney National Park where Ali came out with the line 'mountains don't have labels', which quickly turned into 'labels don't have mountains'. We drove through Molls Gap which was complimented by Ali and then on a search for a B&B. No room at the inn for the first time, the 2nd was closed and then the 3rd try, we were given a king suite! We had dinner in an Italian and said about 2 words to each other, god we were tired.

Whisking

Wow, I've kept the secret so well! I'm terrible at secrets if it's a pressie for someone else so keeping whisking a secret for so long was a miracle! I'm not sure what Ali would have thought as we pulled tp to Mum's and she got in the car! We went to the airport and then she knew, we were going to Shannon, Ireland to drive the worse hire car I've ever driven. It would never make a get away car!

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside

Dentist to start the day and then off to visit primary, secondary schools and sixth form with a turret. A world away from Fair Furlong. We drove to Aldburgh. tried to walk along the shingle beach but god it was hard so that was short lived. We walked (along the path) to Thorpness, took piccies of the swans while i hid behind Ali, had lunch in a gorgeous little tes shop amd then walked back. We drove to Frinton on Sea to walk along the sand beach, with Groynes and beach huts.

Punts and Harry Potter windows

Anyone go on holiday to Essex??? Well, I do. Today we went back to student-ville and went to Cambridge. Oh my gosh it was cold on top of the open top bus but hey, you've got to go on the top! So after standing for 20 minutes on the wrong bus stop, we had a tour. The University Library is one of very few copyright librarys and todays interesting fact is that it holds every copy of the Beano and playboy. Suprisingly, women were only able to get grees from the 1940's. We also visited the American cemetary which was really bizarre cos we were on American soil, in Cambridge. We had quite a walk for somewhere to eat and eventually chose 'The Bun Shop', of course. We had a walk to the River Cam, passed punts and bikes with baskets, Trinity College with it's Harry Potter windows and then it was back to Coggeshall for Chinese.

Brean in February

It all started so well. We made some scones to take to my poorly aunty, I got everything ready for our walk on the beach, perfect. We got all the way down to Brean sands and off I went in the boot to find that I had completely forgotten to put my shoes in the boot! It's February, cold, but a gorgeous blue sky and lovely sun, and i was in flip flops! I had in mind that I would wear them driving so they were easy to slip off but no, they turned into my beach shoes too. We promenaded along the beach to the headland and back again, flip flopping all the way.

A walk at blaise

Twas a gorgeous winters day in Feb so off we went to the world of dog walkers and families strolling - blaise castle. It's lovely, it;s in the middle of the city but when you are in the woods, you can't hear anything of the city around. So off we strolled. After, we visited liv and although hayden loves to encourage her to ask me into the tent, I've realised I can get her to say anything too. That includes saying 'ali, come into my tent'. I must admit that Ali did it much more elegantly than I and she actually fit through the door!
