Ali finally gets a lie in, while I sat in the front room
looking at the amazing view outside Matthew and Andy’s patio. Breakfast on the
verrandah, then down to the harbour to take the ferry to Lyttleton, a very
quaint village across the bay. The sea was the most gorgeous green, absolutely
stunning. Elphaba swam in the sea fetching sticks. I had no idea that although
the big earthquake was 2 years ago, there are still big gaps where buildings
once were. It was a gorgeously sunny day, we sat on Santa’s lap, Matthew played
the random piano based outside the healthfood shop and played Christmas carols.
Back on the ferry, and back over to the house. We visited a friends house for a
spontaneous afternoon tea, and I sat next to friends from…Bristol. On the way
back, we sang Christmas Carols. Back at the house, the feast started. Matthew poached
a whole salmon, Ali was in absolute heaven with salmon and scallops. We sang Christmas
carols while Matthew played the ukulele. We stayed up until midnight, wished
each other Merry Christmas, then waited for Santa to visit and pick up his
whiskey, mincepie and carrot. When he visited, we pretended to be asleep… and he ate the mincepie and carrot!
