What started as a woodland walked turned into a wander
around Eltisley. We parked
just off the B1040 and followed the footpath that skirted the edge of the wood,
we couldn’t in! We eventually found the entrance to the woodland but the path
was overgrown so instead we decided to continue along the footpath and go into
the village of Eltisley. It felt like we were walking through someone’s garden
first of all, but then we found the road to ‘the green’ with it’s Cade Pavilion
(cricket club), gorgeous village church and pub. The history of Eltisley is
that it’s likely to have been an Anglo Saxon settlement and is mentioned in the
Domesday Book.
